Very BAR, jumping against back wall of condo the entire time I was in 17. Peeked for LO, none seem. opted to place food with tweezers through food hatch. bird was omb by the time I was leaving.

5g LO balled up under perched. Perched and then hopped down, very challenging to handle. 10g FF seemed like a little much for her but she swallowed all of it by the end. FIC placed on perched and moistened.

Examined sutures - all intact, most distal aspect of wound is a little bruised, maybe some slight scabbing. All appears to be holding.
Bird is not eating on own and has regurgitated quite a bit (none seen today). Hand fed slowly today and she swallowed most of it down herself with some patience.
Discussed moving outside to decrease stress, possibly adding Gabapentin 10 mg/kg to decrease stress.

Surgery report
Procedure - Rupture crop repair
Performed by - Dr.Ritzman
Surgery time - 0 minutes

Crop Rupture Repair Surgery: 
Patient placed under general anethesia and placed in dorsal recumbency.
A central, larger crop rupture was identified that has sealed
to the outer dermal layer on the periminter, 360 degrees. The
area surrounding the crop opening was gently prepared and feathers
removed from the surgery site. 
The crop was dissected away and separated from the dermis using
blunt dissection with hemostats and qtips. The dermis was separated
from crop opening. Two stay sutures were placed on lateral sides
of crop opening to elevate the crop out of the incision area.
 The maring of the crop was resected 360 degrees with #15 blade
to freshen the margins. Crop was two layer cosure horizontally
with 5-0 Vicryl. First layer mucosa was simple continous inverting
layer. Second layer serosa was simple continuous inverting layer.

Saline was injected into the crop lumen with 25 gauge needle
to inflate the crop with saline to allow expansion of the crop.
Leak test was negative/acceptable. 

The stay sutures to the crop were removed. 
Fresh margins were created with the dermis 360 degrees with #15
blade to freshen dermal margins. 
Closure of dermis vertically with 4-0 Ethilon in simple interrupted
pattern. 

No bandage was applied after complete closure. 

Patient recovery from anesthesia was prolonged with patient taking
approximately 15 minutes after cessation of general anesthesia
to be extubated. Moderate amount of mucous present within oral
cavity, glottis was clear. 

Subcutaneous fluid injection given subcutaneously. 

Suture removal recommended in 14 days. 

Plan: Feed smaller amount of food more frequently and feed soft
meat pieces only without bone fragments for the next 2 weeks
if possible while incisions are healing.

Bird was BAR sitting on towel in back of kennel and very reactive when grabbed and throughout treatment. Bandage and tail wrap still intact. Bird thrashed around a lot during every treatment and was especially reactive to legs being touched. Some scabbing noticed on R leg when attempting to give fluids, so I opted to give in L leg instead.

Pt very BAR and jumpy in box, became stressed and somewhat difficult to restrain throughout exam and tx.
Gave 0.25mL Buprenorphine IM and 0.02mL Midazolam intranasally.

Rest of exam unremarkable and tissue around crop rupture is healthy so began wound tx and bandage for suture repair tomorrow if possible. Unable to pluck feathers around wound site so gave additional 0.05mL Midazolam intranasally. Pt remained reactive and stressed after several minutes so opted not to pluck feathers at this time and proceeded to gently flush the crop with water while pt was restrained in lateral position with head elevated. Cleaned around wound (removed all food material found and cleaned surrounding skin with saline solution.
Placed telfa pad and tegaderm. Wrapped with gauze wrap then vetwrap.
Forgot tail wrap - scheduled for tomorrow.
